What happened?

There I was, Friday evening (14 Aug) running on the side walk minding my own business when suddenly-I woke up Saturday morning in the local hospital. Some dumbass drunk german (passed out drunk according to polizei) hit me with his car and then left the scene. I was facing traffic and the guy hit my left leg?? That would mean, he almost hit the house too. According to my wife, I was awake enough to tell the local SP where to find her, I received a Helo ride to the hosp, and I was making jokes all Friday evening with everyone visiting. I just don't remember what happened. A good thing I guess-I didn't feel it until the next morning. I was up and out of bed Sunday-walking around the hallways. At this point in time, I have a small hop in my step and can't really pull up on the pedals just yet. I have done a 40 K ride and ridden the single speed a couple times.
But with everyone deployed-I might have a chance to podium-I have to take advantage of that!!! So, as long as I can get a few miles in before that weekend, the wife and I will be there. Maybe not to win, but to relax.
And if I get any money, there will be a big party:)

The Boss will be out-of-town, so 1AD G6 responsibilities reside on me and we are setting up the network in Grafenwoher that weekend......
I so want to go.
Maybe my underhanded plea through the PAO of 1AD, will convince my Boss's Boss to make sure I get to go and race for America's Tank Division.

Hey all, this is Ken Bloomer, former military guy (long time ago) organizer of the Hochspeyer MTB Cup and Cross Duathlon (October 4th - don't forget to come out!) and Independent Fabrication importer for Central Europe... I would love to do the Garmisch race, I have fond memories, but need a sponsor to sign me (and my wife/ kid) in so I can race. Can anyone help me out?

Thanks!

Ken

There will be plenty of US riders there to sign you in, but you really don't need to get signed in for this one unless you'd like to get on base. The race is actually off "base" in a sports field/lodge area and it's easy to get to. Most of the time the lodge is full because of Octoberfest so most of us stay out in town.

I think this used to be part of the a German series. There are still some local Germans who come out to race and there used to be a lot more. Really fast mountain goat types. I don't remember seeing anything about non-mil riders not being able to race, but I don't think you'll get series points.

Can anyone help out Ken and his crew in case he does need someone to sign him in? I won't be there, but I can vouch for him.

Hector

Ken, I can help out if need be-but you have to let me win:)

April and I should be down there around 5 pm tomorrow. We will be in Oberau at the Hotel Forsthaus. Anyone for an evening ride, let us know. we are going for a spin after we arrive. There is a restuarant across the street if anyone wants to join us.
0151-2147-7336 is my cell. I think it works down there. If not, look for the Mazda with the bikes on top and start yelling.
