Spangdahlem Saber Cycling

Riding and racing.

I got an email from the Ansbach ODR guys. They want people to pre-register for the race if possible and as a kickback they are taking $5 off the entry fee if you do. I'll paste the email information at the bottom of this post. Also I have attached some documents applicable to this race including the entry form. To pre-register you can email the form in advance and pay on race day. It looks like they get more organized every year and this race was good to begin with.

All Outdoor Recreation Professionals,

USAG Ansbach ODR invites you to participate in the annual Mt. Bike Series Race on 18 July 2009 at Soldiers Lake. On-site registration begins at 08:00 and ends at 09:30. To pre-register, please fill out the attached form and email to zeljko.stjepanovic@eur.army.mil or marc.a.jarvis@eur.army.mil.

Join the ODR staff at 09:00 to test ride the course. First Adult Men's
race starts at 10:00 followed by Youth Senior and Women's categories and ends with Other Youth categories. The awards ceremony follows the last race at approximately 16:00.

A bike wash station is available on site and free bike safety checks and minor adjustments will be offered.

The course is similar to last year's with the addition of an exciting new loop.

Early Registration Fee - $15 (form must be received before close of business on 16 July). Payments may be made in advance at ODR, or paid in cash on site.
On-site Registration Fee - $20, cash only.

Free camping is available at Soldiers Lake Recreation Area which offers primitive campsites, grills, picnic tables, sand volleyball court, and restrooms. Showers are available at the Katterbach Fitness Center, just a few miles away. Enjoy a Friday night party before the big race. Call ODR for more information at 467-3225 or Civilian 09802833225.

You guys showing up the night prior? Family is leaving for the states on Tuesday, so I will be heading up solo, pre-ride and dinner?

Yes, We usually get a lot of pre-riding in and then have a fire/dinner at the camp site. Not sure what the Friday night party is about. Can't wait to see you!

I got the super approval! It's a 4 hour drive with no traffic and I'm leaving around 9am.

We are not as ambitious (sleeping in just a little) but we should be on the road by 11ish. Plenty of time to set up camp saber and get in some rides. Hope the weather holds out!
We are going to camp, even with the forcasted rain. Who's in?

I'm going to leave about 9 also. We (Becca and Alexis are coming) are not going to brave the rain. Billeting was full so I made a reservation at this place http://www.booking.com/hotel/de/garni-birnbaum.html?aid=303948;labe.... It's close and not very expensive.
